From the base position 0 on the waters edge of, for example a pond, lake, swamp, river or the sea etc., through the medium of Float Ball 1, fill the desired observation position ofmeasure float 2, and from the same position 0 (as above) stretch surveying rope 3 on the water surface between float 1 and measure float 2, and place a measuring device on the tip or drop to 4, and using the cardinal point found by the surveying rope at the point of the observation device take a reading of the base position 0 and from this reading up to the above measure float, deduce the position already known and with this deduce the various distances from the surface to the bottom etc.
